- This was originally recorded by Tommy James And The Shondells in 1967. It was written by Ritchie Cordell, a producer at Roulette Records who wrote many of their hits. Their version hit #4 in the US.
- Tiffany (last name: Darwisch) was 16 when this was released. When the album went to #1, she became the youngest female singer to top the album chart, and also the first singer born in the '70s to hit the top spot.
- Tiffany got a lot of attention by touring at shopping malls and singing for free to whoever would listen. It was a new way to get exposure, and it worked very well. Her music was targeted to a young audience who got to see her in the malls.
- This is one of 3 Tommy James And The Shondells covers to hit #1. Joan Jett did it in 1981 with "I Love Rock And Roll," and Billy Idol's cover of "Mony Mony" replaced this at #1 in 1987. Jett also had a hit with their song "Crimson And Clover."
- This was used in the movie Jawbreaker, starring Rose McGowan.
